About our conversions calculators

Unit conversions are the plumbing of the modern world. Every recipe, engineering spec, travel itinerary, science experiment, and international shipment relies on them. Get one conversion wrong and you can ruin a batch of bread, miss a flight, or — famously — crash a Mars orbiter. The Morecalcs conversion calculators handle every common unit conversion you'll ever need, with the same numerical precision used by scientific and engineering tools. Length, weight, temperature, area, volume, speed, energy, and data storage: all with two-way conversion and instant results.

On this page you'll find dedicated calculators for the eight most-used categories, plus a general-purpose converter template you can adapt. Each tool supports the full range of common units (SI, imperial, and legacy where relevant) and shows the conversion factor used, so you can verify against a reference table if you need to. Currency conversion is included with sensible reference rates; for real-time trading, use a live-rate service.

Every converter runs entirely in your browser — nothing is sent anywhere, so you can safely convert shipment weights, medical dosages, or engineering specs without worrying about data leaving your device. The guides below each tool cover the definition of each unit, historic reasons for the odd conversions (why 5,280 feet in a mile, why 4.184 joules per calorie), and worked examples that go beyond the plain conversion into practical, everyday use.

How to use these converters

Pick your 'from' unit, pick your 'to' unit, and type a number in either box — the other side updates instantly. Numbers are precise to at least six significant figures, which is more than enough for cooking, travel, and school work.

SI vs imperial: which to prefer

Prefer SI (metric) for anything scientific or international. Imperial units are still standard in a few countries and industries (US construction, aviation altitude), so the converters make it easy to move between systems without arithmetic mistakes.

Frequently asked questions

Are the currency rates real-time?

No — the currency tool uses reference rates for planning purposes. For live trading rates, use a broker or a live-rate FX service.

How precise are the conversions?

At least six significant figures. That's more precision than you'll need for cooking, travel, homework, or most engineering estimates.

Can I convert temperatures below absolute zero?

The Celsius/Fahrenheit converter will happily do the arithmetic, but no physical temperature exists below absolute zero (−273.15 °C / −459.67 °F).
